“Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.”
Isaiah 26:4 ESV
Is there something that you are deeply longing for in your life? Perhaps it is a dream that you have nurtured for years, waiting for the right moment to see it come to fruition. It could be the desire for a promotion at work, a recognition of your hard work and dedication, or a yearning to be with someone special who brings joy to your life. Maybe you have a heartfelt desire to create a family, to nurture and love those who will call you their own. Whatever it is that you find yourself yearning for, dear friend, know that you are not alone in this journey! We have all experienced moments of waiting and longing in our lives. If God has you in a season of waiting, then take comfort in knowing that you are in good company, surrounded by those who have walked similar paths before you! Consider the life of Moses, who endured a lengthy wait of 80 years before stepping into the role that God had prepared for him. His story reminds us that patience is often a necessary part of fulfilling God's will. Then there’s Jesus, who spent 30 years in preparation before beginning His public ministry, demonstrating that even the Son of God respected the divine timing of His Father. Abraham and Sarah, whose faith was tested over 25 long years before the birth of their son Isaac, exemplify the deep trust that is required when we are called to wait. Isaac, in turn, waited 20 years for his own children to be born, and Joseph endured a grueling 13 years of imprisonment and hardship before being elevated to a position of power and influence. These stories reveal a profound pattern in the relationship between God and His followers: He desires for us to cultivate patience, just as He exhibits infinite patience with us. God is not merely interested in what we are waiting for; He is deeply invested in shaping our character to align with His own. He longs for us to understand that trusting Him is infinitely more beneficial than relying solely on our own understanding and capabilities. Our circumstances may fluctuate, and our emotions may sway, but God remains the same—unchanging and steadfast. He is faithful, good, pure, and loving, and throughout history, He has consistently proven that He fulfills His promises. This is why we affirm our faith with the word "Amen." The term "Amen" signifies our agreement with God, a declaration of our faith that He will indeed fulfill His promises. The Latin root of "Amen" emphasizes that He fulfills His promises without the need for human intervention. When we choose to wait on God, we open ourselves to the possibility of receiving blessings that far exceed our own expectations, for His thoughts are indeed higher than our thoughts, and His ways surpass our limited understanding! There is a well-known saying that God's timing is different from ours, but I firmly believe that God's timing is the ultimate truth. Since God embodies absolute truth and never changes, His timing must be the most accurate timing available to us. Our perception of time is restricted by our finite minds, but God's understanding is limitless. In light of this limitless wisdom, if God is capable of the impossible, if He is faithful in fulfilling His promises, if He is the embodiment of truth, and if His timing is indeed the true timing, then why should we hesitate to trust Him? Trust in our God, for He has always been faithful! Today, let us take a moment to reflect on and track God's faithfulness in our lives, as this practice will help us deepen our relationship with Him. By recognizing His faithfulness, we learn to trust Him more fully. Father, we come before you with gratitude for being such a faithful God! Thank you for always fulfilling your promises and for being our everlasting rock. May we continue to grow more and more like you each day, cultivating a desire to deepen our relationship with you. Flood our minds with memories of your faithfulness that will help us track your goodness in our lives! Remind us consistently of your character, which will strengthen our trust in you even further. Please grant us the strength to persevere in this journey while we wait for you, Lord! Thank you for the constant renewal you provide us and for your unwavering love. Thank you for being a consistent Father, guiding us through every season of our lives. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
