“Yet those who wait on the Lord will gain a new strength, they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.” Isaiah 40:31

I find myself constantly asking God for something that He has promised me, and in response, He continues to tell me to wait. The act of waiting on the Lord can be incredibly challenging at times, particularly in a world that is so accustomed to immediacy and instant gratification. We live in an age where we can order packages from Amazon and receive them the very same day, or even the next day! Let’s face it, our society thrives on speed and convenience 💨. However, it is crucial to remember that when things come too quickly, they often do not last. Whatever God is instructing you to wait for, it is essential to recognize that He is eternal, and He desires for it to be an everlasting gift for you. In this season of waiting, God is not merely asking us to sit idle; rather, He is actively teaching us to grow closer to Him! Consider this: if we were to instantly receive everything we wanted, would we truly engage with God as frequently? Would we even feel the need for Him if our desires were always met immediately and effortlessly? This waiting period is the perfect opportunity to continuously seek His heart and face! It is a time to deepen our relationship with the Father. As we draw near to Him, we begin to understand Him better, and in turn, we come to know ourselves more fully. During this waiting season, God desires for us to cultivate our faith! This is a time to practice perseverance and resilience. It is important to understand that waiting on God is not a passive endeavor; rather, it actively cultivates new strength within us because it teaches us to rely on the ultimate source of our strength—God Himself! Wherever we feel weak, we can take comfort in the truth that God’s strength is always present and prevailing. Let’s break down the acronym W. A. I. T.: it stands for W. illingly A.dvancing I.t T.owards God! While you are waiting, continue to deepen your relationship with the Father, praise Him in advance for the fulfillment of His promises, and remember to extend grace to yourself during this process. Heavenly Father, we thank You for making Your grace sufficient for our weaknesses! We cherish the fact that we do not have to rely on our own limited strength, but instead, we can draw upon Yours! We ask that You continue to move our hearts closer to You! Please guide us to focus intently on Your heart, face, and Word throughout this waiting season! Help us to remember that the things You have in store for us are far better than anything we can imagine! Instill in us the trust we need to lean on You! Remind us that You are a God of unchanging hands! You do not change on us! You practice integrity and fulfill all of Your promises without fail. We thank You for allowing us to experience all the opportunities, gifts, and promises that You have fulfilled in our lives and will continue to fulfill. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
